The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 166 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested.
Man Charged with Assault CK16024665
Yesterday afternoon, police attended a residence on Queens Line to check on the well-being a young woman. Upon doing so, officers found a man who was on conditions not to communicate with her present. Through investigation, officers further learned that she had been the victim of domestic violence the night prior and back in July.
The 30-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with uttering threats, forcible confinement, breach of probation and two counts of assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Mischief CK16024621
Yesterday morning around 6:00 a.m. police responded to multiple 911 hang-up calls from a residence on Baldoon Road. Upon checking on the well-being of the homeowner, officers located a man on conditions not to communicate with the woman in her apartment. He was immediately arrested. Through investigation, police learned that the man kept interfering with the woman calling police. As she attempted to call 911, he grabbed her cell phone and ultimately disabled it by removing the battery and SIM card and hiding them.
The 29-year-old Chatham man was charged with mischief under $5000 and breach of probation. He was transported to the court house pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16024684
On March 3, 2016 a domestic disturbance at a residence on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg resulted in the man damaging the woman’s television and a glass door. The man fled prior to police arrival and a warrant for his arrest for two counts of mischief under $5000 was issued.
Yesterday afternoon, Lambton OPP located the man and he was arrested. The 27-year-old Walpole Island man was released pending a future court date of August 19, 2016.
Man Turns Himself in to Police CK16024761
This morning around 1:15 a.m. the 58-year-old Chatham man attended police headquarters and turned himself on an outstanding warrant for breach of probation. He was arrested and released pending a future court date of August 12, 2016.
Break and Enter in Chatham CK16024654
Sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, unknown suspect(s) forced their way into two sheds at the Active Lifestyle Centre on Merritt Avenue. The locks were cut from both sheds. A Lawn-Boy push mower and black two wheeled garden wagon were stolen. Total value of the theft is estimated at $500.

Motor Vehicle Collision in Blenheim CK16024681
Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Talbot Street West.
Minor injuries were reported. Total damage was estimated at $15,000.
A 36-year-old Chatham man was charged with disobeying a red light.
