The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 147 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eight people were arrested.
Serious Motor Vehicle Collision in Camden Township CK16024571
Last night at 7:20 p.m. emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Base Line between Brick Road and Smoke Line. The driver, a 49-year-old Cambridge man lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch. Both the man and his wife, a 52-year-old woman, had to be extricated from the vehicle.
He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention where he was treated and released. She was air lifted from the scene to the London Health Sciences Centre with serious injuries.
The collision remains under investigation by the Traffic Management Section. Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Doug Cowell at 519-355-1092.
Man Charged with Breaching his Probation Order CK16024515
On January 1, 2016 the man entered into a Probation Order with several conditions. Two of those conditions stated that he was not to contact or communicate with a specific Wallaceburg woman or be within 50 meters of her residence.
Yesterday morning around 11:00 a.m. the man entered the woman’s home and refused to leave upon her request. The woman fled the residence and called for help. Officers located the man inside the woman’s home and he was arrested.
The 35-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Taking a Motor Vehicle without Consent CK16024603
Shortly after midnight, the man was observed driving in the area of Emma Street and Lacroix Street in Chatham. The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation, learned that he had taken the motor vehicle without consent, was breaching his curfew and driving while suspended.
The 53-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged. He was released pending a future court date of August 24, 2016.
Youth Charged with Facilitating a Breach CK16024599
Last night, just before midnight, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham. The young woman attended the residence uninvited even though she knew the 20-year-old man was on conditions not to communicate with her.
The 17-year-old Chatham youth was arrested and charged with facilitating a breach. She was released to her mother pending a future court date of August 22, 2016.
Man Charged with Driving while Disqualified CK16024605
Just before 1:00 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed the man driving in Chatham. The officer initiated a traffic stop and learned that the man was currently disqualified from driving.
The 26-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged. He was released pending a future court date of August 24, 2016. His vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.
