Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 02Nov2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 150 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested. Four people were arrested on outstanding warrants and two were arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.

Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK16036679

Yesterday, police received information that a Wallaceburg woman had been the victim of domestic violence at the hands of her boyfriend. Through investigation, police learned that the woman had been assaulted and threatened on several occasions since April 2016.

Yesterday afternoon, police located the man and he was arrested. The 31-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with:

– Assault x8

– Assault with a Weapon

– Mischief under $5000

– Uttering Threats

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Three Vehicle Collision CK16037023

Yesterday morning at 7:30 a.m. police responded to a three vehicle collision on Queens Line between Dillon Road and Richmond Street.

No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $15,000.

A 36-year-old Tilbury man was charged with careless driving.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK16037069

Yesterday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. emergency crews responded to a collision involving a pedestrian at the corner of Ursuline Avenue and Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

The pedestrian, a 46-year-old Chatham man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and later transferred to Windsor for further medical attention.

The driver, a 60-year-old woman was not injured. She was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.

Collision Involving Police Cruiser CK16037127

Last night, shortly after 8:00 p.m. a 61-year-old Chatham woman pulled out into the path of a cruiser as the officer was travelling on Creek Line. The vehicles collided causing approximately $10,000 damage.

Luckily, no one was injured.

The woman was charged with failing to yield from a driveway.

Man Charged with Stunt Driving CK16037051

Yesterday morning, a member of the Traffic Unit was conducting speed enforcement on Bear Line Road near Dover Center Line when he observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.

The officer recorded the vehicle travelling 141 km/h in an 80km/h zone.

The driver, a 28-year-old Chatham man was charged with stunt driving. His driver’s license was seized and suspended for seven days. His vehicle was also towed and impounded for seven days.
