Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 02Feb2017

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 132 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested.

Update: Robbery in Blenheim CK17002068

As previously released, on January 18, 2017 around 3:30 p.m. a man entered the Esso gas station on Chatham Street South and pointed what appeared to be a gun at the clerk while demanding cash. An undisclosed amount of money was taken. The clerk was not physically injured.

Through investigation police identified the man responsible. Yesterday morning, Bailey Smith, 21 years, of Talbot Street East in Blenheim was arrested and charged with robbery. He was transported to the courthouse pending a bail hearing.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance with this investigation.

Wallaceburg Man Charged with Weapon-Related Offences CK17003796

In December 2016, the man was charged with aggravated assault and weapons dangerous against his neighbor. He was released with conditions not to talk or attend his residence.

Yesterday around 4:30 p.m., the man attended his neighbour’s residence where a physical altercation began. The man knocked his neighbor to the ground and further assaulted him with a broken beer bottle. When a witness tried to intervene, the man held up a knife towards him in a threatening manner, at which time he fled to call 911. Police responded and arrested the man.

A 39-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with failing to comply, assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Stolen ATV CK17003814

Yesterday between 7:30 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. a green 1999 Arctic Cat 500 ATV was stolen from a residence on Gregory Line in Chatham Township. The ATV was last seen with a winch and a

black snowplow on the front. The ATV also had a “Bob’s” sticker affixed to it.

Man Charged with Liquor Offence CK17003812

Last night around 6:30 p.m. police responded to an intoxicated man in the area of Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

The 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He was released early this morning when sober.
