Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 02Dec2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 112 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Two people were arrested.

Man Charged with Child Luring CK16040427

Through investigation, police became involved in an online child luring investigation.

Yesterday, police intercepted the man and he was arrested. The 61-year-old Ridgetown man has been charged with luring and distributing sexually explicit material to a person he believed to be under 16 years of age. He was released pending a future court date of December 20, 2016.

Youth Charged with Assault CK16038869

On November 15, 2016 around 2:30 p.m. police responded to a disturbance on Elgin Street in Wallaceburg. Upon arrival, officers observed several teens in the area. Through investigation, police learned that the youth had assaulted a classmate earlier in the day. The tension continued resulting in another altercation after school where the youth assaulted the classmate again and his friend.

Yesterday morning, the 14-year-old youth was arrested and charged with three counts of assault. He was released pending a future court date of December 12, 2016.

Motor Vehicle Collisions

CK16040855 – Yesterday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Princess Street South near Wellington Street in Chatham.

No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $3000.

A 60-year-old Ruthven man was charged with disobeying a stop sign.

CK16040873 – Last night just before 5:30 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Queens Line between Merlin Road and Drake Road.

No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $10,000.

A Chatham man was charged with careless driving.

Friday, December 2, 2016 – Join us tonight either in Blenheim for the Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade or in Bothwell for the Optimist Santa Claus Parade. Both parades start in their respective towns at 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, December 3, 2016 – East Side Pride presents ‘Breakfast with Santa’ at the WISH Centre on King Street East in Chatham between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. All are invited to attend for some Christmas fun with Santa.

Sunday, December 4, 2016 – Join us in Wheatley for their Santa Claus Parade at 12:30 p.m.
