Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 02April2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 134 calls for service in the last 24 Hours. 3 people were arrested.

Motor Vehicle Collision – CK16008189

At approximately 6:33p.m. on April 1, 2016 police responded to the area of Highway 40 south of Wallaceburg with regards to a possible impaired driver. The vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed, and continued onto St. Andrews Line at a high rate of speed. The vehicle collided with another vehicle on St. Andrews Line. Through investigation it was determined the driver of the vehicles ability was impaired. Minor injuries were reported as a result of the collision.

A 22 year old Sarnia male has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in his blood. He was released with a future court date of April 22, 2016.

Impaired – CK16008235

At approximately 1:05a.m. on April 2, 2016 police observed a vehicle stopped at a green light at the corner of St. Clair Street and Grand Avenue, with the driver’s door open. The officer stopped to speak with the driver. Upon approaching the vehicle, the driver closed the door and left at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was conducted and through investigation it was determined that the driver was operating the motor vehicle with over 80 mgs. of alcohol in his blood.

A 31 year old Blenheim male has been charged with drive a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in his blood. He was released with a future court date of April 22, 2016.

Intoxicated in a Public Place – CK16008165

At approximately 2:14p.m. on April 1, 2016 police responded to the area of James Street in the town of Wallaceburg with regards to an intoxicated male. Police attended and spoke with the male who appeared intoxicated and had difficulty walking on his own. Police detected an odour of alcohol coming from the male’s breath.

The 53 year old Wallaceburg male was arrested for his own safety and held in custody till sober. The male was issued a Provincial Offences Notice for being intoxicated in a public place contrary to the Liquor License act.
