Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 01Nov2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 152 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Two people were arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.

Last night around 11:30 p.m. a 39-year-old man was observed operating a motor vehicle in Chatham. An officer on general patrol suspected the man may be driving while under the influence of alcohol. A roadside breath test was conducted and the man registered a warn. He was issued a 3-day license suspension and his vehicle was towed from the scene.

Suspicious Vehicle Complaint leads to License Suspension CK16036987

Around 11:30 p.m. last night, police responded to the area of Lindsay Side Road and Brook Line regarding the report of a suspicious truck. An officer on general patrol located the truck and a traffic stop was initiated. The officer suspected the driver may be operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. A roadside breath test was conducted and the 32-year-old Wallaceburg man registered a warn. He was issued a 3-day license suspension and his vehicle was towed from the scene.

Break and Enter in Blenheim CK16036477

Sometime between October 27, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. and October 28, 2016 at 6:30 a.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into RJ Equipment on Industrial Avenue. The suspect(s) located keys to a truck parked on site and stole 3 plasma torches, 1 thermal arc welder, 1 Miller mig welder, 2 Lincoln mig welders, 1 portable set of acetylene torches on a homemade cart, 2 tool chests containing various hand tools and 2 – 5” Makita grinders. Total value of the theft has been estimated at approximately $27,000. The white 2004 Ford F250 truck was last seen with Ontario license plates AM69292. The truck has an estimated value of about $9000.

Break and Enter in Ridgetown CK16036882

On October 30, 2016 around 10:30 p.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into the Bargain Shop on Main Street West. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole about $700 worth of electronics.

Break and Enter in Chatham CK16036900

Sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning, unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked garage and shed on Valley Road and stole approximately $5000 worth of DeWalt tools.

Motor Vehicle Collision in Chatham CK16036892

Around 9:45 a.m. yesterday morning, emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision on Grand Ave West between Keil Drive and Courthouse Lane.

Minor injuries were reported. Total damage was estimated at $4000.

A 34-year-old Wallaceburg woman was charged with start from stopped position – not in safety.

Yesterday afternoon, around 1:15 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Chatham Street South.

No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $3000.

A 29-year-old Blenheim man was charged with failing to yield from driveway.
