Charges laid in three morning robberies

(Ottawa)— The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has laid series charges following three early morning retail robberies on November 22nd, 2016.

At approximately 4:00am, a lone male suspect entered a fast food restaurant situated along the 500 block of Bronson Avenue. The suspect made a demand for cash, and was able to access the register himself and make off with an undisclosed quantity of money.

At approximately 5:30am, the same suspect was buzzed into a convenience store situated along the 100 block of Bell Street North. The suspect poured a coffee and then proceeded behind the counter. A demand was made for cash, and the suspect threw the coffee at the employee. The suspect attempted to access the register but when unable to do so, then fled with an undisclosed quantity of lottery tickets.

At approximately 8:20am, the same suspect returned to the fast food restaurant on Bronson Avenue. The suspect entered, this time brandishing a syringe. The suspect obtained an undisclosed quantity of cash from the register and fled the premises. The suspect was pursued by an employee who flagged down a responding patrol officer and directed that officer to the suspect. The suspect was arrested without incident.

There were no injuries in any of the three robberies.

Christopher NICKOLSON, 41 years old, of no fixed address, is charged with:

Three (3) counts of robbery

Two (2) counts of possession of a weapon

He will appear in court on November 22, 2016.
