(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has laid charges in connection to the February robbery of a gas station.
On February 19, 2015, at approximately 1:35am, a lone male suspect entered a gas station kiosk situated along the 1900 block of Prince of Wales Drive. The suspect indicated he had a weapon and then obtained an undisclosed, but small, quantity of cash. The suspect fled on foot and there were no injuries. Police recovered evidence nearby, including a pocket knife.
Members of the Forensic Identification Service subsequently examined the recovered evidence, submitted it to the Centre of Forensic Sciences, and ultimately a DNA match was made to a known offender.
On May 26, 2015, Nicholas LESTER, 30 years old, of Pembroke, surrendered himself to Robbery Unit investigators and was charged with the following offences:
Robbery with offensive weapon
Carry concealed weapon
Possess weapons dangerous
Have face disguised
Breach of probation
He is scheduled to appear in court today.
