Charges Laid In Fatal Dump Truck Vs Motorcycle Collision

Waterloo Regional Police have charged a 62-year-old Hannon driver with several offences in connection with a fatal motor vehicle crash that took place on Dumfries Road in North Dumfries Township September 15, 2016. The collision occurred around 2:30 p.m. when a southbound dump truck entered the northbound lanes while trying to make a left hand turn. A northbound motorcycle, driven by a 61-year-old Kitchener woman, hit the front of the truck, causing the driver to be ejected. The dump truck driver was not injured. The motorcycle driver was assisted to by several people from a nearby business and then transported to Cambridge Memorial Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Police closed Dumfries Road for several hours while the investigation took place. The driver of the truck has been charged with Careless Driving, Turn not in Safety, Fail to Accurately Complete Daily Inspection Report and Drive Commercial Motor Vehicle with a Major Defect.
