Charges laid following shooting incident on June 1st

(Ottawa)–On the evening of June 1, 2015, a verbal altercation took place in Robinson Park in the area of Wiggins Private. The suspect pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victim’s head, at which time a witness to the incident knocked the gun away. After verbally threatening to kill the victim, the suspect walked away from the altercation and discharged a round into the wooded area nearby.

Central Patrol Officers attended the scene and spoke to witnesses. At the time, police were unable to locate any shell casings or any other evidence of a shooting.

The Guns and Gangs Unit in conjunction with the Direct Action Response Team (DART) took carriage of the investigation and confirmed that at least one round had been discharged.

On June 5th, the suspect – who is known to the Guns and Gangs Unit – was arrested without incident at his residence by members of DART. The victim and suspect did not know each other prior to this incident taking place. The handgun used in this offence has not been recovered and the investigation is continuing.

Saed ADEN, 23 years old of Ottawa has been charged with several firearms related offences including Assault with a weapon and Uttering death threats. He will appear in court tomorrow morning.
