(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) The driver of the transport truck, 37-year-old Parminder BARN of Brampton, ON has been charged with the following offences pursuant to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act (HTA):
– Careless operation of a motor vehicle
– Fail to move over for stopped emergency vehicle
The officer has since been released from hospital. The OPP would like to remind the motoring public that the move over law was last updated in 2015 to include stopped tow trucks as well.
When approaching any emergency vehicle or tow truck that is stopped with emergency lights activated, motorists are required to reduce their speed, use caution and move over leaving at least one lane between their vehicle and the parked emergency vehicle or tow truck.
