On October 6, 2016 at 9:30pm, Waterloo Regional Police responded to a report of a fire at a Westmount Road home in Kitchener. A 26-year-old man was found to be suffering from non-life threatening burns to his body, due to careless smoking in the residence. He was transported to Grand River Hospital and then air lifted to Hamilton General Hospital to be treated for burns. Fire damage in the home was contained to a mattress.
