(HURON COUNTY, ON) – A 22 year old male is facing a charge of Operating a Vessel in a Careless Manner following a collision between two personal watercrafts. On August 26, 2014 at 3:45 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers and Huron County EMS personnel responded to the Grand Bend Marina after receiving a call for assistance.
Police learned a group of three friends were operating rented personal watercrafts on Lake Huron just north of Grand Bend when two of the personal watercrafts collided. The group were all able to make it back into the Grand Bend Marina however a 21 year old male operator was injured and was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Subsequent police investigation revealed 22 year old Omar KHAN from Mississauga had operated his personal watercraft in a careless manner. As a result he was charged with Operating a Vessel in a Careless Manner contrary to the Canada Shipping Act, Small Vessel Regulations.
