(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers including investigators from the Huron OPP Crime Unit continue to investigate an arson that destroyed a snowmobile shack located off of Cardiff Road in Huron East.
Just before 8:30 p.m. on May 20th, 2017 Huron OPP officers and firefighters from Grey Township Fire responded to the crime scene to locate a snowmobile shack fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire however the building was deemed to be a complete loss.
The 20′ X 35′ shack is regularly used as a clubhouse by snowmobilers. The structure was valued at approximately $20,000.
Witnesses observed a large group of ATV’s in the area just prior to the fire. Investigators believe the cause of the fire to be arson.
