The Guelph Police Service have initiated a criminal investigation into the circumstances of a collision that occurred on December 13, 2015 at 2:35 a.m., on Woolwich Street near Charles Street. The vehicle, a 2007 Ford Escape, was travelling northbound on Woolwich when it left the roadway striking a hydro pole as well as a pedestrian. 24-year-old Grace Olivia Glofcheskie had just walked her friend home and was close to arriving at her own home when she was struck. She was transported to the Guelph General Hospital and succumbed to her injuries. The vehicle rolled over onto its roof but the occupants(s) fled the scene and are unknown at this time. It was later discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen on December 12, 2015 in the late evening from the Eastview Road/Starwood Road area.
Based on the severity of the collision, it is possible that the occupant(s) of the vehicle sustained injuries.
