Car Thieves Elude Police After Crashing In Ditch

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Friday morning August 06, 2010 a Ford Crown Victoria was parked in a suspicious manner at a business parking lot in Millbank. The business owner checked inside the vehicle and located a name of the registered owner. A phone call to the vehicle owner revealed that the car had been stolen from Kitchener on Wednesday August 04, 2010. The business owner subsequently contacted the Perth County OPP.

Shortly after the noon hour, the business owner notified the police that someone had removed the vehicle from his lot. At approximately 1 p.m. a Perth County OPP officer observed the Crown Victoria being driven east bound on Perth Line 72 east of Millbank. Attempts were made to stop the vehicle but it continued into Waterloo Region where after a short distance it turned into a rural laneway, drove into a wheat field and got stuck in a ditch. Two young males ran from the vehicle and eluded capture from police. The Perth County OPP with the assistance of the Waterloo Regional Police is continuing to investigate this incident.

The Perth County OPP is requesting anyone who may have seen persons in or near a red older model Crown Victoria in Millbank on Thursday or Friday August 5th or 6th to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.
