Car hits fence after avoiding collision

On January 3, 2014 at 5:40 p.m., the Guelph Police attended to the area of Marlborough Road and Speedvale Avenue for a collision. It is alleged that an unknown vehicle was stopped at the stop sign on Marlborough Road and quickly accelerated northbound through the intersection and began to slide on the wet icy road. A 2005 Volkswagen being operated by a 41-year-old Guelph male was westbound on Speedvale Avenue and swerved to avoid a collision with the unknown vehicle. The swerve caused the Volkswagen to slide off the roadway, striking the fence on a property on Marlborough Road. The other vehicle left the scene.

The unknown vehicle is described as a beige or grey four door vehicle. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Cst Matt Jotham at 519-824-1212 ext. 7434.
