On January 30, 2014 at 2:00 a.m., the Guelph Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop with a vehicle on Willow Road for a traffic violation. The vehicle initially failed to stop but when it did the two occupants fled from the vehicle on foot. A police canine unit attended and conducted a canine track. The canine unit tracked for approximately 1km, locating the suspects in the Paisley/Sleeman Road area. Further investigation discovered that the vehicle was stolen.
A 25-year-old Guelph man has been charged with being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle; occupy a motor vehicle without owner’s consent and two counts of breach probation.
A 22-year-old Guelph man has been charged with being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle; occupy a motor vehicle without owner’s consent and weapons dangerous as a knife was located on him.
Both were held in custody pending a bail hearing on January 30, 2014.
