Canada Summer Job Initiative – Student Team On Patrol

The Owen Sound Police Service is currently accepting applications for employment as a “STOP” student (Student Team On Patrol) as funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Initiative. The successful candidate will work alongside the Community Services Officer in a fulltime capacity during June, July and August, 2017. The student will gain experience in various aspects of Policing and be responsible for project development and implementation, administrative functions and supervision over another student program. In addition to the established criteria below, the candidate must possess a “G” driver’s licence, and demonstrate initiative and leadership skills. Candidates must have a strong moral character and will be subject to a criminal background check.

To be eligible to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs initiative, individuals must:

be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;

have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;

be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act3; and,

be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
