Campbell’s Crap Caked Country Road?

At last night’s council meeting, Ralph Campbell informed council
that he had several complaints regarding mud being tracked onto Reid
Road, from a farmer after the farmer has spread manure on wet fields
and driven back out onto the road.

Mr. Campbell informed council that it could cost $3,000 – $4,000 if
they had to grade the road and re-gravel it.  Council will be
sending the farmer a registered letter, as Ralph Campbell refuses to
step on the properties in question.

A long time WFP supporter drove down Reid Road to see how bad this
situation was, as it was apparently a driving hazard.  He was
so furious at what he saw, he raced back to Wingham and contacted
WFP.  We sent out a photographer with this gentleman to
document this alleged hazard, that could cost taxpayers thousands of
dollars.

The entire length of the road was driven in an attempt to find what
motivated so many people to allegedly complain.  We were fully
expecting to see inches of mud caked to the road, from shoulder to
shoulder.

The truth is, there were several locations where you could see where
vehicles left fields and drove down the road.  These signs were
very faint, and were on a the shoulder for a very short
distance.  There were a few small balls of dirt on the
shoulder, which is to be expected in the country, where farmers are
working to feed us.  There was one lump of dirt, right at the
edge of the grass, this was not a driving hazard by any means.

Either the condition of the road was blown completely out of
proportion, or someone cleaned the road overnight.  Take the
time to drive the road yourself, and see which is the bigger hazard,
the potholes, or the hand full of mud pellets on the shoulder.
