(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checkpoint set up at the corner of Huron Street East and McTaggart Line put the brakes on an impaired driver yesterday afternoon. Shortly after 3:00 p.m. the driver of a grey GMC pickup entered the R.I.D.E checkpoint. Upon speaking with the driver officers noted the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening test was completed which the driver failed. He was arrested and transported to the Exeter OPP detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath; both were above the legal limit.
Calvin WILLARD, 54, from South Huron has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He is currently in custody with a court date scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on October 2, 2013. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
