Busy Night For Perth OPP

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to over 60 calls for service between 6 p.m. Monday January 6th and 6 a.m. Tuesday January 7th. The majority of these calls involved abandoned vehicles and stranded motorists. Many drivers abandoned their vehicles after becoming stuck in drifts or ditches creating problems for snow plough operators, who have to wait for these vehicles to be towed from roads before they can continue ploughing.

Many Perth County roads remain impassible due to extensive ground drifting, stranded vehicles, and collisions. This has resulted in numerous barricades and roads closed signs remaining in place. Motorists should respect these highway closures and not attempt to drive on these highways until they are re-opened. Remember it is against the law to drive on a closed highway.

All motorists are encouraged to check weather and road travel conditions by calling 511or online at www.Ontario.ca/trip for up to date road conditions for provincially maintained highways.
