Bus Full Of Children Ends Up In Ditch Between Hydro Pole and Tree – No Injuries

(Huron East, ON) At approximately 8:30 am today, a northbound school bus on London Road made contact with a farm tractor pulling a sprayer. The bus was passing the tractor which was travelling at a slow rate of speed when the tractor driver began to turn left into a private drive. The tractor turned into the side of the bus making contact with the back wheel. The contact caused the bus driver to lose control of the bus and it left the roadway and entered the west ditch. The bus travelled between a tree and a hydro pole and then came to rest. A headcount of the children confirmed that none were injured. The students were heading to Central Huron Secondary School, St. Josephs’ Elementary School and St. Anne’s Secondary School in Clinton. They ranged in age from 5 to 17. The students were put on a second bus and were taken to St. Anne’s school where they were reassessed. At that time it was confirmed that no one was injured in the collision. Victim Services of Huron County attended at the school to offer support to those students needing it. The driver of the tractor was charged with making an unsafe turn. LP10137781
