(North Huron, ON) On November 8, 2009 at approximately 9:45 pm, Huron OPP officers were on patrol in Blyth when they observed a vehicle being operated in a suspicious manner. Officers stopped the vehicle and immediately detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the drivers’ breath. Police also observed beer bottles in the rear of the car. The officer made a demand for the driver to provide a roadside sample of his breath and the driver complied. The result of the test was a fail. The driver was then arrested and taken to the Huron Detachment where he met with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician. He provided two more samples of his breath and the results confirmed that the driver was operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level that was above the legal limit of 80 milligrams.
As a result of the investigation, Brian Mason (46) of North Huron has been charged with one count of Drive Motor Vehicle With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He will answer to his charge in Goderich Court on January 21, 2010.
