Brian Bell – Drunk Driving a Dump Truck

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Tuesday April 20, 2010 shortly after 2 p.m., an OPP West Region Traffic officer was checking drivers for seatbelt compliance at the intersection of Perth Road 107 and Perth Line 43 in Amulree.

The officer spotted a fully loaded dump truck whose driver was not wearing his seatbelt. Upon speaking to the driver the officer detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. The officer administered a roadside breath test which the driver failed. The driver was arrested and transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville where he registered over .80 mgs. on the Intoxilyzer.

Brian Bell (57) of the Township of Perth East was charged with operating a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of blood alcohol content. He is to appear in Stratford court on May 31, 2010 to answer to this charge. He was also charged with failing to wear a seatbelt ($240 fine & 2 demerit points) and was served a 90 day drivers licence suspension.
