On August 11th, 2013 just after 5pm the Owen Sound Police responded to the west side of the city with regards to a residence that had been broken into while its owners were away. The culprits entered through an open window and made off with several electronic items including two flat screen televisions.
The investigation led to the arrest of a 16 year old Owen Sound boy and a 24 year old man who had just settled in Owen Sound from Hamilton. Both males were arrested separately at different locations a short time following the break and enter. The 24 year old was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit after the man had decided to run from the police in an attempt to evade arrest.
The majority of the stolen property was recovered and returned to its owner.
The 16 year old was released from custody with a future court date for the charges of Break and Enter, Theft Under $5,000 and Failing to Comply with Probation Order.
The 24 year old has been held for a bail hearing on August 12th, 2013, charged with Break and Enter, Theft Under $5,000, Possession of Stolen Property, Escape Lawful Custody and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
