Yesterday at approximately 1745hrs members of the community patrol division attended a residence on James Street, Blenheim in regards to a report of a break and enter. Investigation revealed an unknown party entered the residence through an unlocked door and removed jewellery valued at approximately $25000.00.
While conducting general patrol on Talbot Trail at approximately 2110hrs a member of the community patrol division observed a male party riding his bicycle along the highway. The male is well known to police therefore the officer stopped and questioned him with respect to the break and enter. He produced a watch which matched the descriptors of one stolen from the residence and was arrested for possession of property obtained by crime. During search incident to arrest more jewellery from the break and enter was located on his person. A K9 track was conducted resulting in the discovery of a large amount of jewellery which originated from the break and enter.
As a result the male, a 40 year old Harwich Township man, has been arrested and charged with Break, Enter commit Theft and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He has been held in police custody pending a bail hearing.
