Operation Impact

Brantford police will be out in force during the Thanksgiving Weekend as part of a national campaign aimed at making Canada’s roads the safest in the world.

From Friday, Oct. 9 to Monday, Oct. 12 police will be participating in Operation Impact, a traffic enforcement program, which will see police target impaired drivers, people not wearing their seatbelts, aggressive drivers and distracted drivers.

This year has seen several motor vehicle collisions with major injuries in Brantford.

Police said each of these accidents have indicators that showed that most cases could have been prevented.

The annual participation of Brantford police in Operation Impact represents an important part of the Brantford police overall traffic strategy, which seeks to improve road safety through partnerships.

Operation Impact is sponsored by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) and member agencies of the CACP Traffic Committee from across Canada in support of Canada’s Road Safety Strategy 2015, which has a goal of making Canada’s roads the safest in the world by 2015.
