Brantford Crime Briefs Sept 3-4

Type: Missing Person LOCATED

Location: Kitchener

Incident: Matt LERNO (missing male from Brantford). He has since been reunited with his family.

Type: Arrest-Mischief at BGH

Location: Terrace Hill Street

Incident: An act of kindness turned into his arrest for a Brantford man. On September 3, 2015 at 10pm a 28yr old Brantford male contacted police for assistance. The male was not feeling well and requested a ride to the BGH. The officer did not feel that the male was in need of an ambulance so he provided the ride and escorted the male to the BGH to seek treatment. Once at the hospital, the male became angry and began throwing items around in the lobby. Police returned and arrested the male and took him into custody. No medical treatment was sought. The male is attending a bail hearing this morning.

Type: Break and Enter

Location: Murray Street

Incident: Police received a report of a break and enter on September 3 that was believed to have occurred between 10pm on September 2 to 10am on September 3rd, 2015. The suspect entered through an unlocked kitchen window and a laptop was reported stolen.

Type: Arrest –Break and Enter

Locations: Murray Street

Incident: Police responded to a Break and Enter call around 330pm on Sept 2, 2015. Upon arrival, they located a male who identified himself to officers; he was wanted for a break and enter to a residence on Sarah St. on July 19, 2015. The 21 year old Brantford male was subsequently arrested for the B&E on Sarah St. and the investigation is continuing in regards to the Murray St. address.

Type: Arrest-Theft from Motor Vehicle

Location: Nelson Street

Incident: At 613 am on September 3, 2015 Brantford police attended to a Nelson Street address after a vehicle was discovered to have been entered. A wallet and backpack were taken from the vehicle. Officers immediately checked the status of the credit card that was in the stolen wallet and learned that it had been used at four local stores. Officers viewed the merchant videos and identified two males known to police as using the VISA. Officers went to locate the males and found them together out front of a Dalhousie St. home. The males were immediately arrested and it was discovered that they still had the victim’s wallet and backpack with them. A 40 yr old male from Harley and a 42 year old of No Fixed Address are charged with theft and possession of stolen property. Both were held for Bail.
