Brantford Crime Briefs – November 19, 2015

Type: Trespass/Criminal Harassment

Incident: 15-39359

Location: Buchanan Crescent

Details: On November 19, 2015 at around 1:15 a.m. a woman dialed 9-1-1 emergency to report an unwanted x-boyfriend in her back yard. Approximately 2 hours before this the same x-boyfriend had attended his x-girlfriends home on Buchannan Crescent and a verbal argument took place. Police had attended on this first occasion and drove the man home and warned him not to return.

The x-boyfriend returned to the residence and was banging on the doors and windows. And throwing objects at the victim’s home. When officers arrived they observed the accused at the front door of the home. The accused ran away from officers through a condominium complex. Officers chased after the accused and found him hiding underneath a vehicle about 500 feet away. The accused who was intoxicated resisted and was uncooperative during the arrest.

The accused a 28 year old Brantford man is charged with Criminal Harassment, Trespass at Night under the Criminal Code of Canada and Intoxicated in a Public Place under the Liquor Licence Act. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Type: Break and Enter (Commercial)

Incident: 15-39256

Location: St Paul Av – St Paul Coin Laundry

Details: On the morning of Wednesday November 18, 2015 a break and enter was discovered at St Paul Coin Laundry on St Paul Avenue. Sometime overnight a door was forced open at the business and a coin machine damaged. A DVR machine was reported stolen.

Type: Shoplifter

Incident: 15-39271

Location: 1 Market Street, Brantford

Details: On November 18, 2015 at 11:45 a.m. mall security called 9-1-1 to report a man at the mall who had been arrested by security for theft and who was being uncooperative. BEAT Officers attended and continued the investigation. The accused a 23 year old Brantford man had attended a store in the mall, selected a sweater from a store and placed the sweater in his back pack. The accused was then observed exiting the store without making any attempt to pay for the concealed item. Store security and an employee of the business approached the accused. The accused was currently on conditions not to possess a cell phone or be in possession of a weapon. During the search of the accused by BEAT officers a folding knife and a cellular phone was found on the accused person. The accused was charged with Breach of Recognizance X2 and held in custody for a bail hearing.
