Brantford Crime Briefs – July 7, 2015

Type: Break and Enter (commercial)

Date: July 6, 2015

Location: Sherwood Drive

Incident: On July 6, 2015 it was reported that unknown person(s) entered a fenced in compound over the weekend. Several vehicles inside the compound were reported tampered with.

Type: Assault

Incident # 15-21509

Date: July 6, 2015

Location: Colborne Street East (900 block)

Incident: On July 6, 2015 shortly before 10:00 a.m. a citizen called to report a man walking in the area of a motel on Colborne Street East. The man was pacing back and forth and appeared to be injured with dried blood on his person. Community Patrol Officers attended and spoke to a man who had been stabbed several times in the torso region and hand. EMS were contacted, attended and provided medical treatment on scene. The man received non-life threatening wounds.

Investigation revealed that earlier in the morning around 9:00 a.m. an altercation occurred at a nearby motel where two men who were known to each other became involved in a physical confrontation. It is alleged that Accused #1 struck Accused #2 several times in and about the face area. While Accused #2 was being assaulted he assaulted Accused #1 with a pair of scissors stabbing him several times. Accused #1 then walked away on foot and Accused #2 was knocked out unconscious for a short period of time. Accused #2 was transported to the hospital as precaution.

Accused #1, a 41 year old Brantford man was arrested and charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm. Accused #1 was released on a Promise to Appear with Officer in charge Undertaking.

Accused #2, a 54 year old Brantford man was charged with Assault with a Weapon and released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date.

Type: Theft from Motor Vehicle – Arrest

Date: July 6 2015

Location: Joysey Street

Incident: On July 6, 2015 at 11:21 p.m. a citizen telephoned the BPS to report three suspicious youths in the area of Joysey Street and Ariel Street. The youths were observed in driveways and checking out parked cars of unlocked vehicles. The citizen provided a detailed clothing description and last direction of travel. Community Patrol Officers arrested the three youths in the area of Sherry Lane and Allwood Street. One male was observed standing in the middle of the road and the other two males were at a parked vehicle in a driveway on Sherry Lane. The youths at the parked car were directed to place their hands on the hood of the vehicle, when doing so one of the males placed a yellow multi-tool with a 2 inch blade erected from his hand onto the hood.

Various items were found on the male’s persons such as a garage door opener, stereo from an old Ford motor vehicle, loose change and cigarettes. A Community Patrol Officer drove around the neighbourhood with the garage door opener pressing the button in hopes to find an address where the opener belonged to. The Officer while on Joysey Street observed a garage door opening and closed when he pressed the garage door remote. The officer attended the residence and woke the occupant up. The homeowner confirmed that the garage door opener was his and had been stolen from his unlocked car which was parked out front of the home.

Accused #1 a 16 year old Brantford male was arrested for Possession Under $5000.00 and was released by way of Pre-charge Diversion.

Accused #2 a 15 year old Brantford male was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property and released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date.

Accused #3 a 23 year old Brantford man is charged with:

*Possession of Weapons Dangerous

*Possession of Break-in Tools

*Attempt Theft Under $5000.00

*Theft Under $5000.00

*Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000.00

Accused #3 was held in custody for a bail hearing.
