Brantford Crime Briefs – December 28, 2015

Type: Motor Vehicle Collision

Incident: 43910

Location: 300 King George Road

Details: On Saturday December 26, 2015 shortly before 11:30 a.m. BPS Traffic Unit attended a motor vehicle collision in the parking lot at 300 King George Road. A Dodge Journey had pulled out of a parking space in front of a Ford Fusion which had been travelling in a through lane. The Ford struck the Dodge vehicle with minor impact. Prior to the Officer arriving to investigate the collision a female passenger in the Dodge vehicle switched places with the male who was driving the Dodge Journey at the time of the collision. During the investigation the Officer received information regarding the occupants of the Dodge vehicle switching seats and misleading the officer. The officer confronted the male and female occupants who admitted to being dishonest. The Officer continued the investigation when without notice the male driver fled the area on foot. Investigations revealed that the accused that fled the area was prohibited from driving Canada wide for dangerous driving and fail to stop for police. The accused, a 31 year old Brantford man was arrested after turning himself in on Sunday December 27, 2015 shortly before 2:00 p.m. The accused was held for a bail hearing charged with Disqualified Drive X2, under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Type: Break and Enter (Residential garage)

Incident: 43932

Location: Memorial Drive (200 block)

Details: Sometime during the early morning hours on December 26, 2015 unknown persons entered an opened residential garage on Memorial Drive. Two tires on aluminum rims were reported stolen from the garage.

Type: Attempt Theft Motor Vehicle – Arrest

Incident: 43915

Location: Lynden Road

Details: On Saturday December 26, 2015 at approximately 12:30 p.m. an alert citizen telephoned the BPS to report observing 2 males and a female attempting to steal a GMC Denali on the lot at the Lynden Park Mall. One of the individuals was observed using a tool to pry at the driver’s door key mechanism, while the other two stood by. The thieves were unsuccessful and fled the area on foot. The citizen provided a description of the accused. Officers attended into the area and located the three accused a short distance away. The accused who was attempting to pry at the vehicle’s door and damaged the door locking mechanism was found in possession of a hammer and two flat head screwdrivers.

Accused #1, a 46 year old man from Hagersville is charged with Attempt Theft of Motor Vehicle, Possession of Break-In Instruments, and Mischief Under $5000. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Accused #2, a 35 year old man from Ohsweken is charged with Attempt Theft of Motor Vehicle and Breach of Probation. The accused was arrested and released on a Promise to Appear from the BPS on conditions from an Officer in charge.

Accused #3, a 34 year old woman from Ohsweken is charged with Attempt Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Breach of Probation X2. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Type: Disturbance.

Incident: 15-43987

Location: Colborne Street and Clara Crescent

Details: On Sunday December 27, 2015 at approximately 5:00 p.m. Officers attended in the area of Clara Crescent and Colborne street East regarding a report of a man believed to be intoxicated walking in the middle of the roadway yelling and screaming. Officers located the man who was in possession of drugs. The accused had on his possession;

Eight Percocet tablets containing 5 milligrams of Oxycodone, estimated street value of $40.00.

0.8 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine, estimated street value of approximately $80.00.

*0.3 grams of MDMA, estimated street value of $40.00.

The accused a 42 year old Brantford man stands charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance X3 and Breach of Probation. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
