Type: Arrest- Careless Use of a Firearm

Locations: Huff Ave – Kennedy Street

Incident: Police conducted a search warrant and retrieved a .22 rifle after a 29 yr old Huff Street male was arrested for mischief and careless use of a firearm. The incident began on December 24, 2015 around 9pm when the male was target shooting in his backyard shed. Unbeknown to the target shooter his rounds exited the rear of his shed and struck his neighbour’s house on Kennedy Street. Police recovered 3 bullets in a rear bedroom after the bullets went through a bedroom window, two in the neighbour’s eavestrough and a number more that had struck the brick house. No one in the home was injured as they were all busy wrapping Christmas presents.

Type: Arrest- Possession of a stolen shotgun

Location: Terrace Hill Street

Incident: On Christmas day around 630 pm concerned citizens in the Terrace Hill/Dundas Street area called police after hearing three shotgun blasts. Police attended to the area and began searching. In a rear yard off Terrace Hill Street a pump action shutgun was found and a shell casing. Callers had described a male that was seen carrying a large object under his coat moments before the blasts. Police located the male and arrested him for careless use of a firearm. A search of his residence turned up the rest of the shotgun shells from a box matching the one found in the yard. Further investigation revealed that the shotgun was reported stolen in a break in in Haldimand County. A 17 yr old Young Offender has been charged with numerous offences including breach of probation, careless use of a firearm and possession of stolen property.

Type: Domestic- Stabbing

Location: Morton Ave Area

Incident: Police are investigating a stabbing that was reported on December 26, 2015 at 648 am. Investigators have one male in custody and a second was transported to the Brantford General Hospital with a wound to his leg. The alleged unprovoked attack appears to be domestic in nature, therefore no identifiers will be given out that may identify the victim.
