Type: Domestic Dispute

Incident # 16-32264

Date: August 30, 2016

Incident: On Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at approximately 8:50 a.m. a man and woman, who are in a relationship, got into a verbal dispute. The argument escalated and the woman struck the man in the face causing scratch marks. As a result, the 27 year-old Brantford woman was arrested and charged with Assault. She was released on a Promise to Appear for a future court date.

Incident # 16-32334

Date: August 30, 2016

Incident: On Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at approximately 5:30 p.m. a woman returned home to her residence that she shares with her boyfriend. The two got into a verbal argument and the woman went to the bathroom to get away. The man followed her there and struck the woman in the head causing a laceration. The woman fled the residence and a concerned citizen assisted her with contacting police for assistance.

As a result, a 23 year-old man was arrested and charged with Assault. He was held for a bail hearing.

The woman attended the hospital to receive medical treatment for her injuries.

Incident # 16-32355

Date: August 30, 2016

Incident: On Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at approximately 10:30 p.m. a man attended the residence of his ex-girlfriend and entered it without permission. The woman told the man to leave at which point the man kicked at the glass door causing it to break. The woman attempted to remove the man from her house and he assaulted her. A concerned citizen walking past the house observed the confrontation and contacted police to assist.

As a result, a 15 year-old man was arrested and charged with Assault, Mischief, Unlawfully in a Dwelling House, and Fail to Comply with Youth Sentence. He was held for a bail hearing.

Domestic assaults are criminal offences. Before life stressors escalate to the point of physical violence and threats, the Brantford Police Service encourages men and women who are experiencing difficulties, to take advantage of the services offered in the community.
