Incident: On March 24, 2017 shortly before noon police received a 911 emergency call from a citizen who had chased a man after he had broken into his vehicle. The accused had entered a vehicle parked in a driveway on East Avenue. The citizen observed the unknown man in his truck and witnessed him steal his wife’s purse which had been left inside the truck. The citizen and his wife chased after the accused to an address on Peel Street. The citizens were able to grab hold of the accused and the purse was dropped. During the confrontation the female was slapped in the face by the accused. The accused was able to flee into a residence know to him on Peel Street. Officers attended and observed a man run out of the house on Peel Street. Officers arrested the accused after a brief foot chase.
Marcus BARKMAN, 28 years of Brantford was charged with Theft under $5,000.00 and Assault. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with Officer in Charge Undertaking with a future court date.

Location: Grey Street
Incident: On March 24, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. two cruisers were travelling on Grey Street heading to the Police Station for a detail when they observed a man exiting a residence on Grey Street and panicking as soon as he observed the cruisers and quickly went to run back towards the residence however the door was locked. The male was observed running into a cab that seemed to be waiting for someone at this residence. The officers stopped and investigated the suspicious man. Investigation revealed that the accused had an outstanding Bench Warrant for Fail to Attend. The accused was removed from the taxi. Officers also seized a large quantity of crack cocaine and cocaine from the accused. In total 196 grams of crack cocaine and cocaine were seized. The estimated street value of the seizure of drugs is$19,600.00. The accused is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Location: Nelson Street
Incident: On Saturday March 25, 2017 at around 11:30 a.m. Officers attended an address on Nelson Street regarding an arson investigation. The residence is a multiple dwelling house. Investigation revealed that the accused lit a fire in a waste paper basket. Smoke filled the air on one of the floors and other residents were evacuated. No one was injured.
The accused a 32 year old Brantford man is charged with Mischief, Breach of Recognizance, Breach of Probation, and Arson-Disregard for Public Safety and Arson-Mischief to Property. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Location: Brant Avenue (0-100 block)
Incident: On Saturday March 25, 2017 Thursday March 23, 2017 at 12:16 a.m. a concerned citizen called 911 to report a possible impaired driver. The citizen reported that a male who was sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle had been leaning out of the vehicle and vomiting onto the ground. Officers arrived and had conversation with the accused and observed the vomit on the ground outside of the car. The accused displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for Impaired Driving. The accused was taken to the Brantford Police Service where he provided samples of his breath. The accused readings were 2 times over the legal limit. The accused a 25 year old Cambridge man is charged with; Operate a Motor Vehicle While Impaired and Operate a Motor Vehicle over the Legal Limit. Further the accused licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Incident: 17-10565
Incident: On Sunday March 26, 2017 at around 12:30 a.m. employees at a business on Dalhousie Street telephoned the police to report suspicious and unwanted customers at the premise. Two customers were observed entering a public bathroom and remaining there for over a half hour. Officers attended and spoke to the two unwanted females. Both females identified themselves falsely. Investigation revealed that accused #1, had a committal warrant outstanding for her as a result of a surety revocation. Accused #1 was also on a Recognizance with conditions that she was found breaching. Accused #1, a 30 year old Brantford woman is charged with Obstruct Police and Breach of Recognizance. Accused #2, a 24 year old Brantford woman was arrested for Obstruct Police and Breach of Recognizance. Accused #2 was found in possession of .99 grams of Fentanyl. The street value is estimated at $270.00. Accused #2 was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. Both Accused were held in custody for a bail hearing.
