Location: Marlborough Street (100 Block)
Incident: On Friday, February 17, 2017 at approximately 6:00 a.m. a man contacted the Brantford Police Service to report that he was currently observing a man in his residence through a home alarm monitoring system on his phone. Police attended the residence and found the man still inside the residence. As a result, a 29 year-old Brantford man was arrested and charged with Break and Enter, Mischief and Possession of Stolen Property.
While police were investigating the Break and Enter, they received information from a woman who advised that the man had been at her residence earlier in the night and they engaged in a verbal argument. The argument escalated and the man punched the woman in the face several times and choked her. The woman lost consciousness and when she woke the man was gone. The woman contacted police and attended the hospital to receive treatment for injuries sustained from the assault. As a result, the man was also charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault Cause Bodily Harm, and Choking. He was held for a bail hearing.

Location: Craig Street (0-100 block)
Incident: On Saturday, February 18, 2017 at approximately 8:20 a.m. Community Patrol Officers were contacted by a concerned citizen in regards to a man that was inside a business compound on Craig Street and was removing items from bins. Police investigated and located the man still within the compound. The 29 year-old Brantford man was charged with Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Break-In Tools, and Failing to Comply with Recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing.

Date: February 18, 2017
Location: Dunsdon Street/Buchanan Crescent
Incident: On Saturday, February 18, 2017 at approximately 9:30 p.m. Community Patrol Officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) check in the area of Dunsdon Street and Buchanan Crescent. At this time, a vehicle was stopped at the R.I.D.E check and the driver displayed signs of impairment. The driver provided a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device which indicated that he had over 80 mg of alcohol in his system. The driver was arrested and taken to the Brantford Police Service where he provided further samples of his breath as required by law. The results were 204 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood and 209 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. The legal limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. As a result, a 59 year-old Brantford man was charged with Over 80 mg and released on a Promise to Appear. The vehicle was seized for a mandatory 7 day impoundment.

Incident: On Monday, February 20, 2017 at approximately 12:15 p.m. Community Patrol Officers were contacted in regards to a man who was seen clutching onto a knife while attempting to conceal it within his jacket. Community Patrol Officers investigated and located the man on the porch of his ex-girlfriend. He was arrested. Through investigation it was learned that the man has been harassing his ex-girlfriend by hanging around outside her residence and sending her several unwanted text messages.
As a result, a 53 year-old Brantford man was charged with Possession of a Weapon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Criminal Harassment. He was held for a bail hearing.

Location: Colborne Street (600 Block)
Incident: On Monday, February 20, 2017 at approximately 9:05 p.m. a woman was driving a vehicle along Colborne Street when she collided with another vehicle that was stopped for a red light. Community Patrol Officers were contacted to attend and upon speaking with the woman, noted that she displayed signs of impairment. The woman provided a sample of her breath into a roadside screening device which indicated that she had over 80 mg of alcohol in her system. The woman was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where she provided further samples of her breath as required by law. The results were 120 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood and 109 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. The legal limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. As a result, a 29 year-old Brantford woman was charged with Over 80 mg and was released on a Promise to Appear for a future court date. The vehicle was seized for a mandatory seven day impoundment.

Incident: On Monday, February 20, 2017 at approximately 10:10 p.m. a man was driving a vehicle along Brantwood Park Road when he lost control and struck a parked vehicle. Community Patrol Officers were contacted and upon speaking with the driver, noted that he displayed signs of impairment. The man was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where he provided samples of his breath as required by law. The results were 263 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood and 273 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. The legal limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. As a result, a 33 year-old Brantford man was charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 mg. He was released on a Promise to Appear for a future court date. The vehicle was seized for a mandatory seven day impoundment.
