Date: October 19, 2016
Incident: On Tuesday, October 18, 2016 a man and woman, who are in a relationship, engaged in a verbal argument. The argument escalated and the woman repeatedly punched the man in the face and kneed him in the groin. The woman then took ahold of the man’s cell phone and attempted to smash it. The man grabbed the woman and was able to get the phone away from her. On Wednesday, October 19, 2016, the man contacted police to report the incident. Police investigated and arrested the woman.
As a result, a 59 year-old Brantford woman was charged with Assault x’s 2. She was held for a bail hearing.
Domestic assaults are criminal offences. Before life stressors escalate to the point of physical violence and threats, the Brantford Police Service encourages men and women who are experiencing difficulties, to take advantage of the services offered in the community.

Type: Theft
Incident # 16-39436
Date: October 19, 2016
Location: Fairview Drive (400 Block)
Incident: On Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at approximately 5:15 p.m. a woman attended a store on Fairview Drive and selected various items off of the shelves. She placed the items into a duffle bag and left without making any attempt to pay for them. Community Patrol Officers were contacted and provided a description of the woman. Police located the woman a short distance away and she was arrested. During the search after her arrest, the woman was found to be in possession of stolen property from at least three others businesses. The woman also attempted to obstruct police by providing two separate false names. Police were able to determine the true identity of the woman.
As a result, Natasha Marie Carolyn STRAETEN, 23 years of Market Street in Brantford was charged with Possession of Stolen Property x’s 4 and Obstruct Police. She was held for a bail hearing.
