Date: January 119, 2017
Incident: On Thursday, January 19, 2017 at approximately 11:50 a.m. a man and woman, who are in a relationship, engaged in a verbal dispute in their home. The argument escalated and the woman attempted to leave the residence. The man blocked her path and prevented her from leaving. The woman then ran to a bathroom to get some distance from the man and contacted her father for help. The man forced his way in and grabbed the woman, placing her into a headlock and punched her in the stomach. The woman began to scream for help and the man threw her to the ground, held her hands behind her back, and put his hand over her mouth. The woman was eventually able to free and fled the residence. While she was running from the residence her cell phone fell from her pocket and the man picked it up and threw it at her. The man was able to catch up to the woman and once again put her into a headlock and began pulling her back towards the residence. At this time the woman’s father arrived and the man fled. Community Patrol Officers were contacted and located the man a short distance away.
As a result, a 28 year-old Brantford man was arrested and charged with Forcible Confinement, Assault with a Weapon, Assault, and Breach of Probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
