Type: Arrest- Drugs
Locations: Maitland Street
Incident: On Monday 16 May 2016, Brantford Police received information regarding a 24 yr old Brantford man who was selling illegal drugs. Information was that the male was carrying a shotgun in a green duffle bag along with the drugs. Police observed the male (carrying the green duffle bag) walking on Maitland Street. The male was arrested and the bag searched. No firearm was located in the duffle bag. However, the male was carrying a large amount of cash and was subsequently charged with Possession of Proceeds of Crime. A second male walking with the 24 yr old was also arrested and searched and he was found to have cocaine and marijuana in his pockets. The 21 yr old Brantford man was charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Due to the public’s safety, the male carrying the duffle bag was held in custody as police prepared a search warrant for a Maitland Street home. The search warrant is expected to take place today to search for the gun.
Type: Arrest- Threats with a Gun
Locations: Harris Ave.
Incident: On Monday, May 16, 2016, police were dispatched to attend Harris Avenue regarding a female outside of an apartment building yelling. Further information was that the female had a gun in her car, which was parked out front of the building.
Upon arriving on scene, police located the female’s vehicle; however, she was not around. Inside of the vehicle, police could clearly see a rifle lying up against the front passenger seat. Upon further investigation, the rifle turned out to be a rifle BB gun. Police located the female walking out of the apartment building and immediately detained her.
Police investigation revealed that the female was in the process of moving out and had become angry at two of the apartment’s residents. During a heated exchange of words the female had went out to her vehicle and showed the two females the BB rifle, holding it out in front of her, and threatened the two ladies.
As a result of this investigation, the 19 yr old female was charged with possession of a weapon dangerous and uttering threats to person. The gun was seized and the female was released with a future court date.
Type: Arrest -Stabbing
Locations: Skate Park
Incident: As previously reported through a Media Release on Saturday May 14th, a 19 yr old male has been arrested for the stabbing that occurred on Saturday May 14, 2016, around 2am. The victim and the accused knew each other and were at the skate park located behind the Casino. Investigation revealed that the two became engaged in a confrontation that turned into a physical fight. Which turned bloody, when the accused used a knife to stab the victim numerous times. The accused fled the area and the victim was transported to the Hamilton General Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries as a result of being stabbed several times. The victim suffered a punctured lung. A knife was recovered nearby.
As a result of the police investigation, a 19 yr old Brantford man is charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. He was to attend a bail hearing this morning.

Type: Stolen Tractor Trailer and Tires
Locations: Sinclair Blvd, Brantford – York Regional Police
Incident: On May 3, 2016 BPS reported that a trailer loaded with tires was stolen from a business on Sinclair Blvd. The company reported the missing trailer at 10am on Monday May 2, 2016.
UPDATE: On Friday May13, 2016 York Regional Police recovered the trailer. In total, 748 tires were recovered. No persons have been arrested. The investigation is continuing.
Type: Additional Charges – Voyeurism
Locations: James Hillier School
Incident: INITIAL MEDIA RELEASE:
On February 17, 2016 the Brantford Police Service were contacted by staff at James Hillier School on Queensway to report finding a hidden camera in an employee washroom.
A hole had been made into the ceiling tile in the washroom and a camera hidden within the drop ceiling was discovered.
An image of an adult person was discovered on the camera. The Brantford Police Service has seized the camera as evidence.
Investigation led police to arrest 33 year old Brantford male who is an employee with the Grand Erie District School Board.
A warrant will be sought regarding access to the seized camera’s digital images. Police believe there may be more victims and are continuing their investigation.
If more images are discovered, the Brantford Police Service will work together with the Grand Erie District School Board to identify and ensure the victim receives victim services support.
UPDATE:
As a result of the police investigation, the video camera was forensically analyzed. In total, nine (9) victims were identified as being videotaped. No students were victims in this case. All victims (adults) have been advised. The accused is now facing 23 criminal charges of voyeurism.
