Date: March 15, 2016

Location: Helen Avenue (0-100 Block)

Incident: Sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, an unknown(s) person attempted to steal a Buick Rendezvous that was parked in a parking garage on Helen Avenue. Damage was done to the ignition and a wallet was reported stolen.

Date: March 15, 2016

Location: Colborne Street (600 Block)

Incident: On March 15, 2016 at approximately 5:15 p.m., a man entered a convenience store on Colborne Street. He was observed selecting two canisters of dust remover off a shelf and then drop them into his jacket. The man then selected two other items and attended the cash register to pay for those items. The man made no attempt to pay for the dust remover and left the store. Once leaving the store, the man was approached by a store employee who confronted him about the stolen items. A shoving match ensued and the man pinched and grabbed the employee’s shoulders. An employee from a nearby store attended the area to assist and ordered the man to the ground. Brantford Police Community Patrol Officers were contacted and the man was arrested. As a result of the investigation, a 49 year-old Brantford man was charged with Assault, Theft Under $5000 and Breach of Probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
