Brantford Crime Briefs – 16June2016

Type: Theft

Incident # 16-21005

Date: June 13, 2016

Location: Bolster Road (0-100 Block)

Incident: On Monday, June 13, 2016 at approximately 2:10 a.m., three men entered an unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a residence on Bolster Road and stole bank cards from a wallet. The men then attended several locations and used the cards to make unauthorized purchases. Community Patrol Officers were contacted and investigated the incident. Through investigation, police were able to determine the identity of the men. As a result, on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, a 20 year-old Brantford man was arrested and on Wednesday June 15, 2016, a 16 year-old Brantford man, and a 19 year-old Brantford man were arrested. They each were charged with ten counts of Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card, two counts of Theft of a Credit Card, and one count of Theft from a Motor Vehicle. They were released on a Promise to Appear for a future court date.

Incident # 16-21215

Date: June 15, 2016

Location: King George Road (100 Block)

Incident: On Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at approximately 10:30 a.m., a man attended a business on King George Road and selected an item before leaving the store without making any attempt to pay for it. Community Patrol Officers were contacted and investigated. Through investigation, they were able to determine the identity of the man. Furthermore, on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at approximately 3:00 p.m. while police were looking to locate the man, he was driving a vehicle on Abigail Avenue. He attended a residence and stole a garden gnome from the front lawn. Community Patrol Officers were once again contacted and investigated. The man was located and arrested without incident. As a result, a 46 year-old Brantford man is charged with Theft x’s 2. He was held for a bail hearing.

Type: Impaired Driving

Incident # 16-21284

Date: June 16, 2016

Location: Bridge Street

Incident: On Thursday, June 16, 2016 at approximately 1:45 a.m., a Community Patrol Officer on routine patrol observed a vehicle on Bridge Street driving in an erratic manner. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver displayed signs of impairment. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired driving. The accused was taken to the Brantford Police Service where he provided samples of his breath as required by law. The results were 198 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood and 193 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. The legal limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. The accused, a 23 year-old Burford man was charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 mg, and was released on a Promise to Appear for a future court date. The vehicle was impounded for a mandatory seven day seizure.
