Brantford Crime Briefs – 14Feb2017

Type: Domestic Dispute

Incident #: 17-05404

Date: February 12, 2017

Incident: On Sunday, February 12, 2017 at approximately 2:00 p.m. a woman was at her boyfriends’ residence when they got into a verbal argument. The woman attempted to leave, however the man grabbed her and prevented her from doing so. The man then punched the woman in the head and engaged in inappropriate sexual touching. The man continued to assault the woman. During the incident, the woman was calling out for help. Eventually, the man’s mother heard the woman calling for help and she intervened. The woman attended her residence and on Monday, February 13, 2017 contacted the Brantford Police Service to report the incident. During the investigation, the woman also reported previous events where the man had assaulted her.

As a result, a 19 year-old Brantford man was arrested and charged with various Criminal Code Offences such as Assault x’s 3, Sexual Assault, and Forcible Confinement. He was held for a bail hearing.

Date: February 14, 2017

Location: Tedley Boulevard/Harper Boulevard

Incident: On Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at approximately 3:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers were in the area of Tedley Boulevard and Harper Boulevard conducting routine patrol. At this time an officer observed a man and woman walking through a residential construction zone. The man and woman entered a vehicle that had another woman in the drivers’ seat. The officer conducted a traffic stop and through investigation learned that the man and woman had stolen copper wire and tools from the construction area. They were also found to be in possession of break-in tools. Investigation further revealed that the 30 year-old woman driver had a warrant issued for her arrest. All three people were arrested.

A 41 year-old Brantford man is charged with Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Break-In tools, Trespass by Night and Breach of Probation. He was held for a bail hearing.

A 30 year-old Brantford woman was charged with Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, and Possession of Break-In tools. She was held for a bail hearing.

A 34 year-old Brantford woman was charged with Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Break-In tools, and Trespass by Night. She was released on an Appearance Notice for a future court date.

Date: February 14, 2017

Incident: On Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at approximately 3:00 a.m. a man and woman, who are in a relationship, got into a verbal dispute. The argument escalated and the woman grabbed a pocket knife and stabbed the man in the chest and arm. Community Patrol Officers were contacted and investigated.

As a result, a 22 year-old Brantford woman was arrested and charged with Assault with a Weapon, Assault Cause Bodily Harm, and Possession of a Weapon. She was held for a bail hearing.

The man was transported to hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

Domestic assaults are criminal offences. Before life stressors escalate to the point of physical violence and threats, the Brantford Police Service encourages men and women who are experiencing difficulties, to take advantage of the services offered in the community.
