Brantford Crime Briefs – 14Dec2016

Type: Theft (Commercial)

Incident # 16-46883

Date: December 13, 2016

Location: St Paul Avenue (300 Block)

Incident: On Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at approximately 10:30 a.m. a man attended a store on St. Paul Avenue and selected various items from the shelves. The man hid the items inside of a backpack and left the store without making any attempt to pay for them. Employees of the store observed the theft and contacted Community Patrol Officers. The man was located a short distance from the store and arrested.

As a result, a 32 year-old Brantford man was charged with Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, Breach of Probation x’s 2, and Fail to Comply with Recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing.

Incident # 16-46862

Date: December 13, 2016

Location: Colborne Street West (300 Block)

Incident: Sometime overnight on December 13, 2016 a utility trailer was entered at a business. At the time of the investigation tools and equipment were reported stolen.

Type: Mischief

Incident # 16-46959

Date: December 13, 2016

Incident: On Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at approximately 10:25 p.m. a male youth became angry at his parents and began to yell at them. His behaviour escalated and he started punching holes in the walls. The youth’s mother tried to contact police for assistance and he grabbed the phone from her and threw it on the ground in an attempt to break it. The mother was able to get to another phone and contacted Community Patrol Officers for assistance.

As a result, a 15 year-old Brantford man was arrested and charged with Mischief and Intimidation. He was held for a bail hearing.

Type: Domestic Dispute

Incident # 16-46976

Date: December 14, 2016

Incident: On Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at approximately 3:25 a.m. a man and woman, who are in a relationship, got into a verbal argument in their home. The argument escalated and the woman attempted to contact police for assistance. The man followed her and pushed her into a bedroom and closed the door and held it shut so she could not leave. The woman was able to contact police and while she was on the phone, the man pushed her to the ground and took it away from her. The man let go of the woman and grabbed the house phone and ripped it out of the wall so she could not use it. He then threw the woman’s cell phone at her causing it to crack when it struck a wall. The man then fled the residence.

Police located the man a short distance away and arrested him.

As a result, a 28 year-old Brantford man was arrested for various criminal code charges including, Assault, Assault with a Weapon, and Intimidation. He was held for a bail hearing.
