Brantford Crime Briefs – 13July2016

Type: Theft (Commercial)

Incident # 16-25119

Date: July 12, 2016

Location: Colborne Street (600 Block)

Incident: On Tuesday, July 12, 2016 a man attended a business on Colborne Street and was captured on video selecting a cordless drill off of the shelf and making no attempt to pay for it before leaving the store. Later in the day, the man returned with a resume and applied for a job at the same store. Employee’s recognized the man and contacted Community Patrol Officers to investigate. With the information from the resume, the suspect was identified. Police located the man and the cordless drill was returned to the store. The 28 year-old Brantford man was issued a trespass order from the store and is not to return again. He also has to attend a pre-charge diversion program at St. Leonard’s Community Services for theft.

Type: Recovered Stolen Vehicle

Incident # 16-25132

Date: July 12, 2016

Location: Erie Avenue (100 Block)

Incident: On Tuesday, July 12, 2016 between 4:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. a Ford Pick-Up truck was stolen from a driveway on Erie Avenue. Community Patrol Officers searched the area and were able to locate the vehicle parked in a parking lot on Market Street South. The vehicle was returned to the owner.

Incident # 16-25152

Date: July 13, 2016

Location: Queen Street (100 Block)

Incident: On Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at approximately 2:15 a.m. a man attended a restaurant on Queen Street and broke a window to gain entry. Once inside the man selected various alcohol bottles before fleeing through the same window. While the man was leaving through the broken window, a Community Patrol Officer who was on routine patrol, heard glass breaking and attended the area to investigate. The man was located and arrested.

As a result, a 19 year-old Brantford man was charged with Break and Enter and Disobeying a Court Order. He was held for a bail hearing.
