Brantford Police Service Seek Assistance of the Public in Locating Lost Money

Date: February 6, 2017
Incident: On Monday, February 6, 2017 at approximately 12:10 p.m. a woman contacted Community Patrol Officers to report losing or having a substantial amount of money stolen. It was reported that the woman had last seen the money in a banking envelope in her purse on Friday, February 3, 2017. Over the weekend she attended locations such as Food Basics on King George Road, Dollarama on Market Street South, and Shoppers Drug Mart on Stanley Street. Anyone who may have located the money is asked to contact Constable Esposto at 519-756-0113 ext. 2827 to assist in returning it to the rightful owner.

Incident: On Friday, February 10, 2017 at approximately 3:10 p.m. a man and woman, who are in a relationship, got into a verbal argument at a friends’ residence. The dispute escalated and the man punched the woman in her face and stomach. He then grabbed her by the throat and choked her. The man covered the woman’s mouth and nose to further prevent her from breathing. The woman fought back and was able to break free from the man. The woman then attended her residence where she contacted police. Community Patrol Officers investigated and the man was arrested.
As a result, a 16 year-old Brantford man was charged with Assault and Choking. He was held for a bail hearing.

Date: February 10, 2017
Incident: On Friday, February 10, 2017 at approximately 10:00 p.m. a man and woman, who were formerly in a relationship, got into a verbal argument in the home where they still reside together. The argument escalated and the man pushed the woman. The woman attempted to contact police for assistance and the man grabbed the phone away from her, preventing her from doing so. The man continued to push the woman and she attempted to defend herself. This resulted in the man striking the woman in the face and putting her into a headlock. The man eventually released the hold on the woman and she lost consciousness for a brief period of time. When the woman woke, the man left the residence. The woman contacted police for assistance. On February 13, 2017, the man attended the Brantford Police Station to turn himself in and answer to the charges.
As a result, a 38 year-old Brantford man was charged with Assault, Choking and Intimidation. He was held for a bail hearing.

Location: Dalhousie Street (100 Block)
Incident: On Sunday, February 12, 2017 at approximately 12:35 a.m. Community Patrol Officers were contacted to attend an address on Dalhousie Street in regards to a man who had taken a taxi from Hamilton and was unable to pay for his fare. Police investigated and the man was arrested for transportation fraud. The man provided a false name in an attempt to hide his identity. Through investigation police were able to determine the correct identity of the man. It was then learned that the man also had three warrants for his arrest.
As a result, a 30 year-old Ancaster man was charged with Transportation Fraud, Obstruct Police, and Breach of Probation x’s 2. He was held for a bail hearing.

Date: February 12, 2017
Location: Albion Street/Henrietta Street
Incident: On Sunday, February 12, 2017 at approximately 03:55 a.m., police received information from a concerned citizen in regards to a vehicle in the area of St. George Street and The Strand Avenue that was driving slowly and had 2 men entering parked cars. A description was provided and police located the vehicle in the area of Albion Street and Henrietta Street. Through investigation it was determined that 5 men were entering vehicles in the area.
As a result, a 19 year-old Simcoe man was charged with Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, and Possession of Break-In Tools. A 15 year-old Port Dover man was charged with Theft and Possession of Stolen Property. A 17 year-old Simcoe man was charged with Theft and Possession of Stolen Property. A 19 year-old Port Dover man was charged with Theft and Possession of Stolen Property. A 15 year-old Simcoe man was charged with Theft and Possession of Stolen Property. They were all released on an Appearance Notice for a future court date.

Date: February 12, 2017
Location: Fairview Drive (400 Block)
Incident: On Sunday, February 12, 2017 at approximately 7:30 a.m. a man attended a store on Fairview Drive and selected various items off of the shelf and concealed them within a reusable bag. The man then left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Community Patrol Officers were contacted and a description of the man was provided as well as a direction of travel. Police were able to follow tracks in the snow to a nearby restaurant and the man was located in the restroom.
As a result, a 21 year-old Brantford man was arrested and charged with Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, and Breach of Probation. He was released on a Promise to Appear for a future court date.
