Date: April 9, 2016
Location: Stanley Street (0-100 Block)
Incident: On Saturday, April 9, 2016 at approximately 12:30 a.m., a man attended the McDonald’s on Stanley Street to purchase food. The man was observed hitting a curb on the way into the parking lot, and had slurred speech when placing his food order. McDonald’s staff suspected the driver was impaired and contacted the Brantford Police Service who investigated. Community Patrol Officers attended and located the man in his vehicle in the parking lot. He displayed signs of impairment and was arrested. The man was taken to the Brantford Police Station where he provided samples of his breath as required by law. The results were 167 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood and 144 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. The legal limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. The accused, a 27 year-old St. Williams man was subsequently charged with Care and Control with Over 80 mg. He was released on a Promise to Appear for a future court date. The vehicle was impounded for a mandatory seven day seizure.

Location: Beaver Crescent (0-100 Block)
Incident: On Saturday, April 9, 2016 at approximately 4:10 a.m., a vehicle driving along Beaver Crescent left the road, drove across the front lawn of a residence and struck two parked cars in the driveway. The woman driver and male passenger then fled the area, leaving the vehicle behind. A witness contacted the Brantford Police Service and provided a description of the occupants. Community Patrol Officers investigated and located the two occupants a short distance from the collision. The woman displayed signs of impairment and was arrested. She was taken to the Brantford Police Service where she provided samples of her breath as required by law. The results were 211 mg of alcohol in 100 mg of blood and 210 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Further investigation revealed that the woman did not have permission to take the vehicle she was driving. It was also found that she possessed a level G1 driver’s licence and her passenger did not have a driver’s licence. As a result, the accused, an 18 year-old Brantford woman was charged with Impaired Driving, Over 80 mg, Take Motor Vehicle without Consent, Novice Driver – blood alcohol level above zero, Class G1 licence holder unaccompanied by qualified driver, and Class G1 licence holder drive at unlawful hour. She was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date as well as issued summonses to attend traffic court for the Highway Traffic Ac infractions. The vehicle was impounded for a mandatory seven day seizure.

Location: King George Road (0-100 block)
Incident: Sometime between Friday, April 8, 2016 at 8:30 p.m. and Sunday April 9, 2016 at 8:30 p.m. a shed was entered behind a restaurant on King George Road. At the time of the investigation food items were reported stolen.

Date: April 8, 2016
Incident: On Friday, April 8, 2016 at approximately 9:30 p.m. a man and woman got into a verbal argument in their residence. The argument escalated and the woman attended an upstairs bathroom to remove herself and allow the two of them to calm down. The man grabbed a screwdriver and stabbed it through the bathroom door, striking the woman in the leg. The man left the residence. Community Patrol Officers were contacted and investigated. The woman was transported to the Brantford General Hospital where she received treatment for her minor injury. On Saturday, April 10, 2016, the man contacted the BPS and turned himself in to answer to the charges. He was arrested without incident. As a result, a 26 year-old Brantford man was charged with Assault with a weapon. He was held for a bail hearing.
