Type: Robbery
Locations: Colborne Street at Queen Street
Incident: On Friday May 6, 2016 around 6pm a 23yr old man from Sarnia was robbed of cash after leaving the Casino. Police are investigating the robbery that took place on Colborne Street. Video surveillance from the area is being sought. The suspect male is described as a black male, 6’0”, and was wearing black pants and he was seen leaving in a black vehicle.

Locations: Salisbury Ave
Incident: On Saturday May 7th, 2016 at approximately 3:13 am, a Salisbury Avenue resident called Police to report a male on the roof of his detached garage.
Police arrived on scene and located the 27 yr old Brantford man and arrested him for Trespass at Night. The man who was four probation orders including a probation order for a previous theft conviction was kept in custody. Police did not learn why the male was up on the roof in the early morning hours.
Type: MVC – Arrest – Impaired (previously released)
Locations: Mintern Ave.
Incident: On Saturday May 7, 2016 at approximately 3:34 am the driver of a black pickup truck failed to negotiate a curve at Mintern Ave and Division Street. The vehicle mounted the curb and traveled across a grassy area. The vehicle continued in a south westbound direction across Division Street, striking a fence on the west side of Division Street. This fence belonged to a side yard of 3 Division Street. The vehicle destroyed the fence and continued southwest into the side yard of 3 Division Street. The vehicle then continued through a second fence that separated the rear yard of 71 Harriett Street, which was a neighbouring residence. The vehicle continued into the rear yard of 71 Harriett Street and came to rest, striking a deck that was connected to 71 Harriett Street. This collision caused extensive damage to the deck and the vehicle.
The female driver was uninjured by the collision. Police arrested the female driver for being over the legal limit. She later provided samples that registered more than twice the legal limit.
The 32 yr old Oshweken female was charged with Over .08 and her Driver’s Licence was suspended and her vehicle was impounded for a period of seven days.
Type: Arrest- Impaired Driving
Locations: Colborne Street near King Street
Incident: On May 7, 2016, around 5:15pm a citizen contacted the Brantford Police Service advising that an intoxicated male party was inside the Kentucky Fried Chicken located on Dalhousie Street. The citizen then advised that the male had entered a red GMC pickup truck with a trailer and was observed driving southbound on King Street. Police initiated a traffic stop on the motor vehicle, to which the motor vehicle stopped directly in the center of the roadway. Police approached the driver, and when he was asked to step from the motor vehicle, he was barely able to do so and had to be assisted by Police. The male was placed under arrest for impaired driving.
Once back at the police station the male registered 2 ½ times the legal limit. A 37 year old Brantford man has been charged with Impaired Driving, Over. O8 and his driver’s license was suspended and vehicle impounded for seven days.

Locations: Erie Ave
Incident: The quick actions of a taxi driver avoided a robbery on Sunday May 8th, 2016, around 3:04am. Investigation revealed that as the taxi driver pulled up to get a fare on Erie Ave at Eagle Ave, the intoxicated patron who had his hoodie over his head and zipped up, opened the passenger door and advised the driver that it was a robbery and to hand over his money. The driver quickly accelerated and fled from the scene. The would-be robber was knocked to the ground and was last seen running from the scene. The robber was tall, slim male (unknown ethnicity), wearing a dark blue parka, blue Toronto maple Leaf hoodie, blue jeans, wearing gloves and had a large knife. No money was taken and no injury or assault was sustained on the driver.
Type: Arrest – Theft of Wallet
Locations: King George Road
Incident: On Sunday May 8, 2016 at approximately 6:13 p.m., a 42 yr old male attended a King George Road restaurant through an unlocked side door that is used by employees. Once inside the restaurant the male walked directly to the manager’s office and opened the unlocked door. The male then attempted to open the large money safe inside the office but he couldn’t gain access. However, while in the office, the male located a purse in the office and removed a wallet belonging to an employee. The male then left the manager’s office. Unbeknownst to the male, the entire attempt on the safe and the theft of the wallet was being viewed by the store manager via a surveillance camera installed in the office. The manager who did not recognize the male called police. The accused was located down the street and was placed under arrest for Theft Under $5000. The victim’s wallet was recovered and returned to the victim.
As a result of this investigation, the 42 yr old Brantford man stands charged with Theft Under $5000, Possession of Stolen Property and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
Type: Robbery – Online date scam
Locations: Colborne Street East.
Incident: On May 8, 2016 at 11:35pm police attended to a Colborne Street East motel regarding a robbery that had just occurred. According to the victim, he had travelled to Brantford from Oshawa for a date with a female that he had met on line. When he entered the motel room after being greeted by the female, he was confronted by two males who were hiding in the bathroom. The victim advised that one of the males held a knife, and the second had a gun. Both males were described as approximately 6 feet in height, both males were apparently wearing jeans, a black sweater, and one had a red bandana. The males and the female fled after removing the male’s jewelry and cell phone. No injuries were reported to the victim.
Police are awaiting a search warrant for the motel room and are seeking the three persons.
