Brantford Crime Briefs – 09Aug2016

Type: Break and Enter/Domestic

Incident # 16-28955

Date: August 8, 2016

Incident: Throughout the course of the evening of Sunday, August 7, 2016, a woman received over 200 text messages and numerous phone calls her ex-boyfriend. Upon returning home to her residence on Monday, August 8, 2016 at approximately 8:00 a.m., she discovered that her ex-boyfriend had broken into her residence by forcing open a rear door. The man was still there upon her arrival so she left the residence and contacted the Brantford Police Service who attended and investigated. The man left the residence through the front door prior to police arrival. Through the investigation it was learned that while in the home, the man had stolen several electronics and caused some damage to the residence. The man was located and arrested, and the stolen property was recovered.

As a result, a 44 year-old Brantford man is charged with Break and Enter, Mischief, Possession of Stolen Property and Criminal Harassment. He was held for a bail hearing on August 9, 2016.

Domestic assaults are criminal offences. Before life stressors escalate to the point of physical violence and threats, the Brantford Police Service encourages men and women who are experiencing difficulties, to take advantage of the services offered in the community.

Incident # 16-28956

Date: August 8, 2016

Location: Alice Street (0-100 Block0

Incident: Sometime over the weekend a business on Alice Street was entered through a fence that had been cut. At the time of the investigation copper was reported stolen.

Type: Breach of Conditions

Incident # 16-29086

Date: August 9, 2016

Location: King George Road at 403 Overpass

Incident: On Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at approximately 3:00 a.m., a Community Patrol Officer on routine patrol conducted a traffic stop with a Dodge Caravan. Through investigation it was learned that the driver was bound by house arrest conditions and should have been in his residence. The man was also suspended from driving.

As a result, a 34 year-old Toronto man was arrested and charged with Breach of Probation x’s 3 and Driving with Suspended x’s 2. He was held for a bail hearing on August 9, 2016.
