Location: Market Street at Chatham Street
Incident: On Saturday, August 6, 2016 at approximately 3:35 a.m., Community Patrol Officers received information that a man was causing a disturbance in the area of Market Street and Chatham Street. Police located the man and noted that he was intoxicated. During the investigation, it was learned that the man was bound by conditions to remain within his residence. He was arrested for breaching these conditions. The man was transported to the police station for processing where he spit on an officer and threatened to kill two officers.
As a result, a 32 year-old Brantford man was charged with Failing to Comply with Recognizance, Assault Police, and Uttering Threats x’s 2. He was held for a bail hearing on August 8, 2016.

Date: August 6, 2016
Incident: On Saturday, August 6, 2016 at approximately 4:40 p.m., a woman observed her roommate steal her cellphone and run from their residence. Community Patrol Officers were contacted and investigated. The woman provided a suspect description and the accused was located a short distance away. The accused was arrested and was found to be in possession of the cellphone as well as a controlled substance.
As a result, a 24 year-old Brantford woman was charged with Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Breach of Probation x’s 3. She was held for a bail hearing on August 8, 2016.

Date: August 6, 2016
Location: Elgin Street at Rawdon Street
Incident: On Saturday, August 6, 2016 at approximately 7:20 p.m. Community Patrol Officers were contacted in regards to a motor vehicle collision that had taken place at the intersection of Elgin Street and Rawdon Street. While speaking to the driver of one of the motor vehicles, he displayed signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested for impaired driving. The accused was taken to the Brantford Police Service where he provided samples of his breath as required by law. The results were 154 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood and 143 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. The legal limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. The accused, a 53 year-old Brantford man was charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 mg. He was released on a Promise to Appear for a future court date. The vehicle was impounded for a mandatory seven day seizure.
A passenger in the other vehicle was transported to the Brantford General Hospital for treatment for minor injuries.

Date: August 7, 2016
Incident: On Thursday, August 4, 2016 at approximately 9:30 p.m. a man attended the residence of his ex-girlfriend in attempt to reconcile their relationship. The two went for a car ride and attended a secluded spot somewhere between Brantford and Ancaster. The man took the woman’s cellphone and began searching through it. He became very angry, smashed her phone and started to assault her by punching and scratching her. The man then brandished a hammer and a blow torch. He held the hammer up to her head several times and threatened to kill her. The man eventually agreed to drive the victim home. Once there, he again punched her in the face before fleeing the residence. On Saturday, August 6, 2016 at approximately 4:20 p.m., the woman attended the Brantford Police Service to report the incident.
As a result, on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at approximately 8:00 a.m., the man was arrested. He was charged with Assault x’s 2, Intimidation, Uttering Threats, Possession of a Weapon, Fail to Comply with Recognizance, and Disobey Court Order. He was held for a bail hearing on August 8, 2016.

Date: August 7, 2016
Location: Colborne Street (300 Block)
Incident: On Sunday, August 7, 2016 at approximately 11:15 p.m., Community Patrol Officers received a report of a possible impaired driver. Information was provided that a man was seen stumbling inside a restaurant on Colborne Street and then enter a vehicle and drive away. Witnesses followed the vehicle to an address on Grey Street. Community Patrol Officers investigated and located the man. Upon speaking with him he displayed signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested for impaired driving. The accused was taken to the Brantford Police Service where he provided samples of his breath as required by law. The results were 224 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood and 218 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. The legal limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. The accused, a 31 year-old Brantford man was charged with Impaired Driving, Over 80 mg and Breach of Probation. He was released on a Promise to Appear for a future court date. The vehicle was impounded for a mandatory seven day seizure.

Date: August 8, 2016
Incident: On Monday, August 8, 2016 at approximately 12:35 a.m., a man and a woman who are in a relationship, got into an argument at their residence. The argument escalated and the man punched the woman in the mouth. The then held her down on the ground preventing her from leaving. While holding her down, the man grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed the woman in the leg. The woman was able to break free. At this point the man began destroying property in the residence and threatened to light it on fire. The woman was able to contact police for assistance. Community Patrol Officers attended, investigated and arrested the man. Through investigation, it was learned that the man had also stabbed himself in the arm with the scissors. The man and the woman were transported to the Brantford General Hospital. The man was then returned to the Police Station where he was held for a bail hearing on August 8, 2016. The 40 year-old Brantford man was charged with Assault with a Weapon, Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Mischief, Forcible Confinement and Uttering Threats.
